[KDH: Oct 1, 2016] Nolanville reader says he didn’t wait for media pundits to analyze debate

To the Editor:

I turned off my TV immediately after the end of the presidential debate. I didn’t want to hear the media telling how Hillary won.

I thought it was worthwhile to watch and listen to, and the public will let us know who won.

I remember many years ago when Hillary was in New Zealand, she gave a speech in which she told them she was named after Sir Edmund Hillary. The audience applauded.

After she returned to the U.S., some of the media people asked her how that could have been, since an unknown beekeeper named Edmund Hillary didn’t become Sir Edmund Hillary until after he climbed Mt. Everest several years after she was born. Her answer? Well, it’s the thought that counts.

I can’t but wonder how much of what she says in this campaign is in the line of “It’s the thought that counts.”
