Council Meeting [9-16-10]
At the Nolanville city council meeting on 9-16-10, the council stripped our mayor of all meaningful duties and as mayor pro-tem Miller said, made him a figurehead only. I don't think this was a racist action although it was action by five white council people against a black male mayor who was elected by the citizens of Nolanville last May. I think it was just a power grab by Miller and former mayor McCullough with the help of the three actual powers because of the upcoming vote in November on changing our city government to home rule. If it passes, the council will hire a city manager who will run the city. Contrary to what the council has been telling the public, the cost will be roughly $225,000 per year and not $60,000. This will of course require a large increase in tax be passed next year. The council dosen't want the mayor, who was elected by the citizenry, to have any power so they, along with their close friend who will be appointed city manager, will run Nolanville as they see fit.

While we need to eventually get home rule, now is not the time. The council is now actually run by councilman Matthews, his daughter councilwoman Huckaba and councilman Simmons. With the three of them voting in concert and the hiring and firing done by the city manager, a close friend, the citizens will have no one with power in the city government.

If they get their way, the chief of police will be fired and an old style nolanville police department will be developed. For people new to this area, ask any old timers what that means.
The Nolanville circus goes on and on!

City Council Meeting
New mayor C.L. Stewart showed a concern for the citizens of Nolanville at the city council meeting tonight. However the Matthews gang that runs the council did not. They refused comment on the unlicensed wrecker service running out of a residential area. A total lack of concern for the small children playing on the streets.

They were also for the appointment of a city treasurer whose duties would be controlled by the Matthews led council. Where would our money go? How fast would it disappear? Anybody's guess is as good as another's. I am sure the Matthews gang has "a good person picked out for the job".

We are all wondering how fast the Matthews gang will be able to get rid of Chief Holsey and replace him with "the good man" who has been waiting for the job. Look out Bell County and Ft. Hood!!! The old Nolanville traffic trap is on its way. Where will the money disappear to this time? You get three guesses and the first two don't count.

2010 Election
For Mayor:
Emma McCulllough
Charlie Stewart Sr.

McCullough is presently Mayor. In the past, as a council member, prior to becoming Mayor, she brought before the council an item to consider selling a part of our city park for considerably less than the retail value. Recently she presided over a meeting considering selling all of our city park. This last year she was involved in the waste of tens of thousands of dollars to gain a few acres of ground for the city and yet could find no money to repair streets until near election time. Nearly all our police were laid off to fund this folly. When on the council a few years ago she was involved in the effort to get rid of Chief Holsey so we could return to the old style Nolanville police force. WE CAN'T AFFORD TWO MORE YEARS OF THIS!!!

Charlie Stewart is an honest, hard working man and has all the qualifications to be an outstanding mayor.

For Council:

Incumbent Skip Matthews was involved in the effort to get rid of Chief Holsey a few years ago as well as the removal of most of our police force this past year. It is thought this was to force the chief out. Our former Director of Public Works was forced out and a close friend of Matthews' replaced him. We don't need this kind of person on our council.

Caroline Sterling was formerly our Mayor but was voted out due to her involvement in trying to oust Chief Holsey. She is Mr. Matthews' former wife and works well with him.

Huckaba is running again for the council after being rejected before. She is the daughter of Matthews and Sterling and would probably work close with them if all were elected.

Sisters Denise Hungerford and Sandra Freeman are both running. Hungerford has previously been on the council and was moderately successful.

Wayne Hamilton was previously for the council but was not very good and was not re-elected. He then, with city hall help, run unapposed to fill out a one year vacancy. He has been totally useless in this position.

Jeniffer Dellinger, running for a council seat is an unknown quantity.

Theresa Cochran is an honest, hard working resident and has all the qualifications to be a good council person.
